In early 2017 VIA were approached by the Masonic Charitable Foundation to inform us we had been put forward for an online voting grant by the Dorset region as part of their ter-centenary celebrations. The online vote was held and VIA were lucky enough to be awarded £25,000 for our new project V-EX OVERLAND.
The project is in two distinct phases:
- Build Phase
- Expedition Phase
The aim of the Build Phase of the project is to strip and build a minimum of 3 Land Rovers to expedition standard, 1 Land Rover Defender and 2 Land Rover Discovery’s with perhaps a third Discovery being added at a later date. An expedition trailer will also be built by the team using a donor former military Sankey trailer.
All the work on the vehicles will be undertaken by veterans and serving personnel over a yearlong period to ready them for Phase 2 of the project
Phase 2 will be to undertake an overland expedition that will be manned by veterans who have suffered the effects of war alongside V-EX TEAM MEMBERS driving fro the UK to Greece and back to the UK passing through 14 different countries covering a distance of 7,000 miles.
COUNTRIES ON ROUTE
As a separate part of the project the V-EX TEAM will be filming all aspects of the build which will become part of a YOU TUBE series of films https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S66vOQE_Z0k&feature=youtu.be leading up the expedition which will set off on September 01st 2018.
