It is estimated that 12% of the U.K.’s homeless are ex-military. They are on the streets because of a variety of factors. PTSD is one. Adjusting to civilian life is also very difficult as the structure they once knew has now gone. These people have served queen and country for what? The homeless guy in the video was just one of the many in the documentary. There were other cases in the documentary who were homeless having left the army suffering from PTSD and coped with it by abusing alcohol. The more extreme cases have been left out but the message is still the same.
It is estimated that there are around 9,000 veterans have no fixed address who are either living on the streets or couch surfing with friends and family.
