Veterans In Action were honoured to be invited to attend the Masonic Lodge in Blanford to receive an award from the the Provincial Grand Master for Dorset RWBro Richard Merritt. The award was a grant of £25,000 which was part of the ter-centenary of the Masonic Lodge.
VIA Chief Operations Officer said. “It was truly humbling to hear the what the other charities that were nominated do day to day and that makes this award even more special. The funds will be used for a new project called V-EX OVERLAND which will be for a team of veterans and serving personnel to work together to build 3 Land Rovers to expedition standard that will then be used on an Overland Expedition to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War 1. The build process and expedition will be life changing for those involved and the legacy they leave in these vehicles will help many more veterans in the future”. Everyone would like to thank the Masonic Charitable Foundation and specifically the Masons from Dorset for enabling us to help change those who suffer the effects of war or who have found the transition to civilian life difficult lives.”.
It is hoped that due to the help this project has received from the Masonic Charitable Foundation that we could use the Masonic logo on our vehicles and that we could perhaps start this huge life changing expedition from the Grand Lodge in London.
